2014 New Smyrna Speedway Safety Rules
Any changes made to this rule book in 2014 are written in BLUE
1. CARS:
A. All plastic, cloth and flammable interior must be removed.
B. All exterior trim and lights must be removed.
C. All hood/trunk latches must be removed. Hoods/Trunks must have either a minimum of four (4) hood pins or two (2) hood pins and two (2) hinges.
D. Windows must be 1/8” lexan only. No full side windows in any division.
E. Firewall/floorpan must be 22 gauge steel. No holes allowed in firewall or floorboard.
F. Rivets only. No sheet metal screws,
G. No louvers, fins, tunnels or under panning in any division
H. Radiators must have a catch can SECURELY mounted in front of engine firewall. Water only allowed . No anti-freeze or any other additives.
I. Exhaust must be flush with door. (1/2” tolerance).
J. Drive shaft loops required within 12” of drive shaft ends. Steel Drive shafts only unless otherwise noted. Must be painted white.
K. Battery and all electrical connections must be a minimum of 18 inches from the fuel cell.
2. ROLL CAGES:
A. No offset or setback roll cages unless otherwise specified.
B. All tubing must be 1-3/4” OD and .095 thickness minimum
C. Must be properly attached to frame in at least eight points. Exception: Strictly Stock.
D. Minimum of four door bars on left side, plated with a minimum of 1/8” steel.
E. All roll bars around driver must be padded.
F. All joints must be electrically welded in continuous welds.
3. WEIGHT:
A. All weight added to cars MUST be bolted in with minimum 1/2 inch bolts with locking nuts, minimum two (2) bolts/nuts per 50 lbs.
B. Minimum 5 lb blocks and must painted white and marked with car number and division on each block.
C. No weight allowed in drivers compartment.
D. Penalty for weight coming off car is $10.00 per pound. Weight becomes property of the race track.
4. BRAKES, WHEELS & TIRES:
A. No wheel weights allowed in any division.
B. 1/2-inch minimum wheel studs required.
C. Tires: Track approved tires only.
Treating equipment, treating liquids, etc. are not allowed on track property and may be cause for the driver, crew chief, and/or car owner to be asked to leave the speedway property immediately. There will be no refunds nor winnings paid for that event to anyone in violation of this rule.
D. All tires must remain inside body. Exception: Modified tires must remain inside nerf bars.
E. All four wheels must have brakes in good working condition.
5. FUEL SYSTEM:
NO 55 GALLON DRUMS ALLOWED ON ANY SPEEDWAY PROPERTY AT ANY TIME. ABSOLUTELY NO EXCEPTIONS!
A. Only DOT approved street legal gasoline, leaded or unleaded racing gasoline. No additives. Fuel may be tested at any time.
B. No electric fuel pumps.
C. Fuel Cell:
1. Must be between frame rails. Location of fuel cell must be approved by Tech Inspector.
2. Maximum size 22 gallon.
3. Scatter shield mandatory
4. Must have a check valve.
5. 9” minimum ground clearance.
6. Fuel cell protection bar mandatory. Minimum of 1 inch width, .095 thickness
7. 2 straps minimum, 1 inch wide surrounding the entire fuel cell.
8. Fuel cells must be bolted. No rivets, No sheet metal screws.
9. Fuel lines passing through driver’s compartment must be housed in rigid tubing.
10. No fuel cooling/altering devices allowed. Must go from fuel cell straight to carb.
11. No weights maybe added or attached to the fuel cell.
6. RADIOS:
A. TRACK RADIO FREQUENCY IS – 468.8625
B. Spotters are mandatory for Super Late Models, Pro Late Models, and Modifieds. Radios are allowed in Mini Stocks, and Sportsman.
C. Every spotter is required to scan race control. No Exceptions
D. If an Official feels a driver or crew member is abusing the privilege, the radio will be removed.
E. No car to car radios.
